Eight Words

A portrayal of a woman who has to tell her husband the worst news of their lives. What makes it even harder is that he is at sea for the next three months, a submariner, and regulations means that she can only send a message containing eight words.

Alone, the young woman must endure the pain of a recent miscarriage. In trying to compose her message she goes through a series of emotions: denial, anger directed at herself, brutal honesty, and finally a calmer acceptance of the the truth.

She is then able to write an eight word message which conveys that she has found a way to adjust to the terrible circumstances and begin the healing process following a miscarriage.
